Like the detailed description here. Nectarines, lovely! Can I kindly ask how much water you are roughy adding?
I don't measure per se Clint. I start out with a little(not eye dropper small)just a smidgen free pour, then keep adding as necessary. The nose of this one was pretty clear so basically the notes for that were water free. This one took a fair wack of water maybe 25-30% of the total volume of liquid before the palate opened up. That is pretty unusual though even for cask strength. I have plenty of CS Ichiro's that don't need nearly as much(if at all).
Thanks for the feedback dramtastic. 25-30% is a fair whack indeed. The Hankyu department store in Umeda, Osaka currently has a tasting session going on with some of the card series malts. I was on the hunt for Ichiro’s newborn heavily peated expression but was told it is no longer available at the store. Will try a few other places and I'm sure I can chase it up. Loved your review on it.....the temptations!
opps! sorry, for some reason the comment I sent doubled up so I deleted one of them.....
Don't know whether you got to taste them Clint, but a couple of other tasty Ichiro's I picked up on my last trip to Tokyo are The Final Vintage of Hanyu 2000 10YO, quite superior to the 9YO bottling IMO, and the Single Cask 2000 10YO Cask 6080 61%. Has a print of Chichibu Distillery on the box and label. Fourth Release of the 15YO is quite nice also. Yeh the Newborn is excellent. You'll love it!
